General Description :

Citrus County ARES is composed of FCC-licensed Amateur Radio operators who volunteer their services as communicators when disaster strikes. Every licensed radio amateur, regardless of other affiliations, is a resource in ARES. The only qualification other than holding a valid Amateur Radio operator's license is a sincere desire to serve in the public interest.

Citrus County ARES Meeting Information:

2012 ARES meeting dates. Starting January 2012, ARES meetings will be held monthly. The following is the scheduled dates.  January 18th. February 22nd. March 21st. April 18th. May 23rd. June 20th. July 18th. August 22nd. September 19th. October 17th. November 21st. December 19th. Please arrive no later than 6:55 PM as the front doors will be locked for security reasons.

Nets: Citrus County ARES Net:

Note: All ARES nets will be held on the W4CRA repeater, 146.955 mhz until further notice.

Citrus County ARES meets on-the-air Wednesdays at 1900L during the odd months, (Jan, Mar, etc.) on the W4CIT/R repeater, 146.775 MHZ. - 600 khz. shift with a pl tone of 146.2 hz or on 146.775 mhz. simplex if the repeater is not availible. During the even months, (Feb, Apr., etc.) we meet on the CCARC repeater, W4CRA with a frequency of 146.955 hz. -600 khz.

The weekly two meter net announces emergency communications news, provides a forum to answer your questions about ARES procedures and offers training to sharpen operator skills.

North Florida AREC Net :

The Northern Florida AREC Net meets at 0900L on 3950 khz Monday thru Saturday. Amateurs are welcome to participate in this wide area net.
